The above article is an update. Her mother went to appeal to keep her out of the psychiatric ward and lost. She will be institutionalized because of her expression of her gender. She will be held until she conforms to male gender and then released to foster care, not her mother who was supporting her.

Back before I watched Supernatural I still followed people who did, so sometimes I’d just see them kind of talk about shipping Dean/Sam. Also sometimes when I’m following people who ship something from a show I don’t watch, I start to ship it as well because their shipper feels are too powerful for me.

Ahahaha ok this has been a well received tag set. GOOD I’M GLAD YOU APPRECIATE MY HUMOR BECAUSE I AM FUNNY AND UNDERLOVED.

No but seriously what a good opportunity to dive into my feelings about Sam and Dean’s sexuality.

*cracks knuckles*

And of course by their sexuality I don’t mean their sexual orientation. Because I honestly in canon think that Sam is straight, and Dean is bi and represses it partly because it doesn’t fit with his self-image and partly because I honestly think he had really really bad experiences down that road as a teenager and I have a lot of headcanons about what they were.

But I digress, that’s not the point right now.

So Dean is a really gentle and giving lover. He rarely takes full control, he’s slow, he’s patient. Part of that I believe is actor bleed, just because of the stories Jensen has told about how he handles sex scenes and the respect he has for the actresses (his story about filming The Slice Girls specifically) but part of it really is just Dean. Dean is horrible at feelings, he’s crass and he’s impatient and he doesn’t verbalize what’s going on in his heart very well. The one way that he really shows that he cares for another person is by, well, caring for them. He’s a show rather than tell guy, so to speak. His most affectionate moments with Sam are when he’s patching him up, or putting him into bed drunk, or trying to talk him down from his delusions. Caring moments. With women it’s the same thing. Dean is so bad at sharing his feelings but he’s damn good at showing them. And in some ways, that inherent giving up of control is what makes sex enjoyable for Dean. He gets to fucking relax for once. Gets to let someone else take the reigns, and ends up better for it instead of worse. It’s a release in more ways than one.

Now when I say Sam fucks like the hulk….yes, it’s funny, but it’s also blindingly accurate. Sam in his every day life is this gentle, caring, GOOD person. Constantly, every day. He’s moral, and sweet, and trusting, and naive at times and just has this damn beautiful soul that shines through everything he says and does. Musn’t that get exhausting? When Sam is having sex with a woman, he grabs her, he owns her, he dominates her, and you know what? She fucking likes it. He’s not cruel, he’s not uncaring in any way. But he’s rough and he’s strong and it makes him feel like a man. The hulk like quality here is that sex gives Sam a chance to let this inner monster out. There’s a lot of demonic things in Sam, literally and figuratively. He holds so much anger and so much frustration and god damn is he John Winchester’s son when it bleeds through. So he takes it all and just channels it into an experience where it feels good for everyone, and gets it out of his system, and he doesn’t have to hurt anyone by doing it.

The most striking thing to me about this dichotomy, however, is the fact that in their most intimate, vulnerable, stripped away, and honest moments, Sam and Dean both take on the persona of the other.

I thought it could have better explored the underlying themes regarding their feelings about being minority women in America, but the commentary on female sexuality was very strong, as was the metaphor regarding caution in the US’s relationship with Mexico.
